Description
This Wet Tamarind Paste is used in many recipes. Tamarind paste is the pulp from the ripe pod of the tamarind tree, a native of India. The seeds ripen from green to brown, and inside are hard, smooth brown seeds surrounded by sweet-tart, dark brownish-red sticky pulp. The pulp is separated from the roots and fibres and then compressed into blocks to preserve it. Tamarind is a rich source of tanginess. It is used as a spice in several Asian cuisines. Tamarind is a staple of Indian curries and spicy dishes, where it is often paired with coconut milk to reduce its sour taste.
